Catherine Lew, Co-Founder and President/CEO of The Lew Edwards Group, is known as one of California's toughest and most successful communications and campaign consultants.
Lew has three decades of experience in community organizing and politics. A veteran of approximately 500 political campaigns, Lew has worked on behalf of political clients who include the California Democratic Party, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, BART Board Director Bob Franklin, Oakland City Councilmembers Pat Kernighan and Nancy Nadel, Emeryville City Councilmembers Ruth Atkin and John Fricke, Oakland City Attorney John Russo, and Oakland School Board President David Kakishiba and School Board member Greg Hodge. She served as Deputy Political Director of the Northern California Clinton-Gore campaign in 1992.
Lew has successfully developed communications strategy, coalition-building, and media campaigns on behalf of clients who include labor unions, children's organizations, school districts, and organizational clients such as AT&T, Kaiser Permanente, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Presidio Trust of San Francisco, The Nature Conservancy, Planning & Conservation League Foundation of California, California Nurses Association, and a number of labor organizations.
Under Lew’s strategic direction, The Lew Edwards Group has enjoyed years of success in representing public agencies and districts that need strategic leadership in seeking community support at the ballot box. In recent election cycles, the firm has enjoyed an overwhelming 92%+ success rate on its issue campaigns, passing approximately $27 Billion in California finance measures to repair K-12 classrooms, expand college facilities, protect funding for local city services, and improve hospitals and roads.
